So, who is the wizard?

The wizard is a computer engineer, they are experienced in the testing of electronics made of billions of tiny pieces. [He/They] decided to become a health & wellness coach (‘wizard’ if you prefer) after dealing with their own chronic conditions for years. As things got worse for them and diagnoses piled up over time, they did research and applied their engineering skillset in determining their own treatment needs. In addition, they’ve been comfortable mentoring and coaching (mostly adults, some teens) in one-on-one and small-group settings and they’ve extended that comfort into learning the skills necessary to be a game-runner* for tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). Their skills of all kinds are now being directed towards the support of others.

* Most call this role, “DM” or “GM”, though due to the use of charged language in the M, here we prefer the term: “game-runner”

Our practice may be able to help all types of people by providing health & wellness coaching for people managing various health concerns, such as and not limited to the following:

  • Chronic Pain, Severe/Long-term Illness, Injuries, Surgical Recovery

  • PTSD, Anxiety, Stress, Depression

  • Bereavement, Job-Loss, Property-Loss, Local/Regional Disasters

  • Long-Term Infections and/or Lasting Effects (Long-Covid or similar)

  • Poor Sleep, Circadian Rhythm Concerns

  • Help preparing for your scheduled visits with a doctor or specialist

Having fun with metaphors is a big part of our coaching practice.
We will ALWAYS take your health as seriously as you or your doctor do, and we can have fun while doing that.

Coaching here involves a metaphor called ‘Spell Slots’ which is based on concepts seen in popular role-playing games. This is similar to a metaphor called ‘spoon theory’ which is found easily in a web search. This type of metaphor was made to help understand chronic conditions, and the ‘Spell Slot’ metaphor we’ll be using is:

  • We each have a certain number of Spell Slots, some health conditions limit our slots

  • We can use Spell Slots however we like to spend our energy by casting our ‘Spells’

  • We’ll eventually run out of that energy each day, even faster if we’re limited for some reason.

  • We need to rest our bodies and digest our food to recover ‘Spell Slots’ for the next day

On a more personal note, the wizard is supported at home by a wonderful partner and that very-good chocolate lab in the pic! Our thanks to both of them for everything they do!
